We are the UK’s largest municipal bus company and proudly owned by the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Mid Lothian and West Lothian councils. We’ve been based in the city for almost 100 years and are now one of the region’s largest employers with over 2,500 staff, 1,700 of whom are drivers. Many of our employees are from Edinburgh and the Lothians or have made the region their home and we remain a company that’s an integral part of the local community.
Lothian are proud to work in partnership with many other transport providers across Scotland providing vital links and connections for onward travel. We share our ticketing and connectivity platforms with Edinburgh Trams which allows customers to make cost effective integrated journeys across our city in conjunction with Transport for Edinburgh.

- As a Trainee Bus Driver, you’ll receive all the necessary training, from gaining your provisional licence to becoming fully qualified, all of which is fully funded by Lothian, letting you drive your career forward.
- We offer Paid training while you work towards gaining your PCV Bus licence (Cat D) – all costs covered by Lothian! (Training pay rate £12 p/h – first 5 weeks).
