In this key role, you’ll lead the development, execution and delivery of a comprehensive, flexible, agile, and risk based Depositary service performance and oversight framework

You’ll also oversee plans for all Depositary jurisdictions which are subject to continuous assessment that address regulatory requirements, provide detailed independent assurance, industry best practice and opinions with impact

What you'll do

As a Fiduciary Diligence Lead, you’ll lead delivery of high quality and risk based due diligence and ongoing monitoring programme of fund management, fund accountants, transfer agents and custodians, including ongoing performance management, service level monitoring and relationship management for all Depositary jurisdictions. Using data and regulatory insights, and knowledge of upstream regulation, industry and environment, you’ll create and drive a best-in-class service performance and oversight model, and culture.

This will be focused on investor protection and outcomes in the collective investment scheme industry by challenging existing industry norms on fund management and Custodian Depositary oversight, to set new higher standards of investor protection insightful oversight reviews. You’ll understand the strategic needs and direction, identify and provide solutions, guidance and support, manage conflicts, and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes which deliver optimal investor protection outcomes.

You’ll also be:

  • Leading delivery of jurisdictional Depositary fiduciary oversight and assurance program for all fund managers, their delegates and custodians in line with regulatory requirements
  • Building and maintaining long term relationships with clients, stakeholders and suppliers through value-add insight reviews and performance evaluation
  • Leading delivery of comprehensive and value-add performance analytics, and reporting of fund management, as well as their delegates and custodians across all Depositary jurisdictions
  • Designing NatWest Depositary Services overall risk based service monitoring and oversight programme
  • Leading delivery of the oversight programme in line with regulatory expectations and quality standards, ensuring adherence to Group policy, governance and frameworks
  • Utilising and developing technology solutions to identify areas of continuous monitoring to enhance the existing External Monitoring and Custody oversight functions
  • Leading engagement with the legal team in order to input and direct content of relevant legal agreements on an ongoing basis to represent business and fiduciary requirement
  • Building and developing a high performing Fiduciary Assurance & Oversight capability, including supporting recruitment, team development, talent management, succession planning and performance management

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll need experience of regulatory and operational risk identification, assurance testing, independent oversight and implementing mitigating practises for end investor outcomes. You’ll be an experienced practitioner of audit and risk management methodology and have the ability to build and maintain an agile risk assessment model ensuring appropriate level of focus is attached to each review exercise.

In addition, you’ll have the ability to demonstrate continuous improvement and open minded assurance approach which continually assesses, challenges and tests the oversight framework using management information industry and business data to evaluate and review outcomes for optimum investor protection and fiduciary oversight in a changing regulatory industry.

You’ll also need:

  • Knowledge of collective investment schemes, industry including existing and upstream regulatory agenda, industry mechanics, and the ability to demonstrate strong consumer outcomes focus
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to develop effective working partnerships both internally and externally across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, managing diverse initiatives without comprising quality
  • The ability to coach and share specialist knowledge with others to aid their understanding and decision making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills, enabling you to cut through complexity, and make sound decisions and recommendations that are carefully balanced against risk
