State of the Art Post-16 College located in the London Borough of Greenwich is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), 5 days a week 8:30am 4:30pm to start immediately!

The successful Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will open to the needs of their students, at this college the needs of their students are diverse; ie Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, behavioural challenges down syndrome or wheelchair users between the ages of years old.

You will be working in a well run department providing 1:1 and classroom support to ensure that all students can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

  • You must have experience working with children, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • You have an enhanced DBS or able to pay for a new one immediately.
  • You must live in easy commutable distance from the London Borough of Greenwich.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, anxiety, and behavioural challenges.
  • Assist students in managing their behaviour and emotions within the classroom setting and during college activities.
  • Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs) under the guidance of the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by encouraging positive social interactions and engagement in learning activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other LSAs to develop and deliver effective strategies for managing challenging behaviour.
  • Support students in developing self-regulation skills and coping mechanisms to manage anxiety and emotional difficulties.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in line with college policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, anxiety, and behavioural challenges.
  • Strong understanding of strategies and interventions for managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special educational needs, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
