An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our HR team at the world-renowned British Museum.

Our HR Advisors play an integral role within our HR Operations team, providing a high-quality HR advisory service to managers and employees across their client group, while also supporting the development and delivery of engaging and impactful HR objectives and projects.

The challenge of this role is to provide consistent, effective and well-informed advice to managers and staff in the resolution of people management issues. The opportunity is to further develop your own HR advisory and people management skills in what is a unique operating context that includes public, charitable and commercial sector exposure.

About you:

We are looking for someone exceptional to join our dedicated and dynamic team.

  • You will be keen to work in our fun and driven team where no two days are the same.
  • You will have experience in an HR role and be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of employment legislation. 
  • With an awareness of the importance of growing your own knowledge and skills and those of others, you will bring experience of managing or supervising others and a proven ability to plan and prioritise the work of others.
  • You will be able to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and demonstrate how you have successfully influenced at all levels in your previous roles.
  • With a strong attention to detail and an awareness of why that is critical, you will also be able to show how you have worked proactively to specific processes and deadlines, taking initiative to make efficiencies and improvements.
  • Through your application and the selection process you will also demonstrate your well developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen and effectively respond.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Employee Relations - Providing accurate, fair and timely advice and support to inform decision making and achieve effective resolution to employee relation matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and attendance related issues.
  • Process and procedure - Providing effective advice and support to managers and employees in the application of HR policies and procedures throughout the full employee lifecycle (e.g. probation, fixed term contracts, flexible working, family friendly, etc).
  • People Management - Providing line management and performance appraisal, including identifying development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Recruitment and Selection – Supporting role design and evaluation, ensuring that legal, organisational and financial procedures are adhered to.
  • Records and Information Management - Ensuring that information held on the HR system and employee files is accurate and up to date.
  • Training and Development - Supporting the development, implementation and delivery of HR training initiatives.
