Job Requirements/Description
Amazon's diverse online business requires VAT filings in a number of jurisdictions across Europe and creates specific VAT compliance obligations relating to third parties (3P) that sell via our websites. These 3P obligations are the responsibility of the European VAT Compliance & Controllership team (VAT C&C) which is located primarily in London and Bratislava. We are looking for a smart, passionate candidate with experience in business analytics, programming (RPA’s/Python) and data mining.
In this role, you will be supporting teams across Europe and International, and will work cross-functionally across businesses and technology teams to understand current processes and their opportunities for automation. You will lead process and productivity improvements, with a focus on the tools used by Tax managers, Compliance and Business analysts.
Key job responsibilities
• Process improvement/ Productivity improvement of VAT compliance and controllership teams and identification of opportunities for automation
• Automate manual deep dives through automating/fastening data extraction and validation tasks
• Collaborating with business stakeholders in the central team to deliver impactful findings in various areas
• Collect requirements from end-users, customers to create the best automation strategies
• Collaborate with other tech departments to understand how automation can improve Amazon’s productivity
• Liaising with key business partners and senior management (including directors) in order to align priorities and define best in class processes to serve Amazon’s employees
A day in the life
As a Senior Tax analyst, you would analyze processes and drive improvements by scalable automation through SQL and other analytical tools. The successful candidate will be highly data-centric with good exposure in business analysis/ data analytics/ automation. They would have good experience in digging deep into data to identify areas of improvement in business or operations. A successful candidate should be experienced in working with large data sets, be tech-interested, and an ability to work with minimum guidance
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- 2+ years of experience in data mining / Python programming / computer programming
- 2+ years of leading a team in Finance/Tax/Corporate environment
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas/Numpy/Selenium) and HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Fluent in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven record of operational excellence and defect reduction
- Strong stakeholder management with ability to seek out for feedback and to oversee opportunities for automation
- High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in SQL
- A proven track record of being an innovative leader, with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics or similar
- Business Analysts or similar experience in past requiring good exposure in SQL, Tableau, MS Excel and other analytical tools
