6th Form College located in the London Borough of Bromley is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join on a contractual basis. This would be a 5 day a week 8:30am to 4:30pm to start immediately!
The successful LSA will provide essential support to students with a range of special educational needs, including ODD, ADD, ADHD, ASD, SEMH, and various learning difficulties. The successful candidate will work both 1:1 and with small groups, ensuring that each student receives the tailored support they need to succeed academically and socially.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN) including ODD, ADD, ADHD, ASD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
• Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student's needs.
• Work closely with teaching staff to ensure that students are fully supported in accessing the curriculum and achieving their academic goals.
• Facilitate the inclusion of students with SEN in classroom activities and promote their social and emotional development.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other relevant staff.
• Support students in developing effective study habits, organizational skills, and self-regulation techniques.
• Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources to support differentiated instruction.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN support.
• Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, addressing any behavioural issues promptly and appropriately.
• Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with ODD, ADD, ADHD, ASD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and the ability to develop effective support strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of students with SEN.
• Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
