Litigation and Claims Lawyer

As our new Litigation and Claims Lawyer, you'll be overseeing and addressing injury and illness claims related to Jet2holidays and aviation claims. In addition, you'll be handling more general litigation within the business and providing supervision and support to juniors within the team all with a strategic focus on minimising costs to the business while maximising reclaims from suppliers.

This role involves providing dedicated support to the General Manager - Litigation and Claims Management and the wider litigation team generally dealing with legal claims team daily, fostering seamless collaboration with external lawyers and insurers to achieve optimal outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

• You'll read, assess, and make decisions on pre-litigation and post-lit claims across a wide range of business areas.
• You'll be involved with reviewing and authorising Defences, Schedules of Loss, Instructions to experts etc.
• You'll investigate costs incurred by the business to see if contributions can be made from external parties where they are at fault - instigating these investigations and entering into appropriate discussions and negotiations.
• You'll work closely with the company's brokers, insurers, and their loss adjusters in respect of claims management directly supporting the GM - Litigation and Claims Management.
• You'll deliver training within the Legal Department and across the business on relevant issues and claims-handling processes.

What you'll have:

We're looking for a Qualified Lawyer with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience dealing with litigation and claims ideally in travel law/personal injury.

• In-house travel experience would be desirable.
• You'll have working knowledge of Package Travel Regulations.
• You'll have full working knowledge of claims handling processes and Civil Procedure Rules.
