The Finance Directorate is responsible for processing approximately £350m of income and expenditure annually, represented by more than 150,000 transactions each year. Around 7,500 staff and students have access to our Finance systems to initiate, review and approve financial transactions and budgetary reports.

Based within the Finance Directorate, you will be involved in a range of activities to help support all areas of Finance in particular including: Transaction Processing (payments, banking, and student finance matters), Finance Helpdesk and Payroll/Pensions.

Your role will include responsibility for the review, preparation and accurate and timely processing of a variety of financial transactions to the Finance System. You will have strong communication skills and proven experience of customer-focused delivery within a financial processing environment, as well as a good knowledge of how financial management is conducted within the University. You will be approachable and enthusiastic, with very strong people skills. Able to work collaboratively with a wide range of people within a large complex organisation, you will work both independently and closely within a team, supervising team members and delegating work as appropriate. The ideal candidate will also have strong Unit 4 Business World Finance experience within an HE Finance environment.

With a primary focus within one of the Finance Transaction Processing sections, the post holder may be required to work flexibly across all teams and the wider Finance Directorate depending on Directorate workload.

The primary duties of the post holder will include:

  • undertaking day to day banking, payment, and student finance related tasks, including scholarship and US Loan administration and disbursement, student/sponsor debt collection activities, income and payment processing and reconciliation
  • timely and accurate preparation of information to support UK BACS and international payment runs; administration and processing to support Purchase / Travel Cards; post-payment banking maintenance
  • any other appropriate duties within Finance as required, commensurate with grade

Salary range: £26642 - £29659
