About the job
What will I be doing?
- Our ethos is to support Somerset residents to develop gloriously ordinary lives throughout our practice which means;
- Encouraging people to be independent, helping them grow their confidence and make the most of the support available to suit their individual needs
- Identifying what people and families are worried about or what they want to achieve, exploring what support they already have and what they need.
- Developing great knowledge of your local area and working in partnership with local agencies.
- Providing creative solutions.
- Being a critical part of developing our new and exciting Adult Social Care service.
The team
- The Mental Health inpatient team is made up of 6 social workers and 4 adult social care practitioners and is overseen by an advance practitioner. We cover all 9 NHS Psychiatric hospitals across the whole of Somerset; supporting individuals prior to discharge from hospital.
- The service offers a hybrid way of working and due to covering the whole of Somerset, the team work hard to ensure time together is scheduled on a regular basis. This includes, shared lunches, cuppa and catch-up time, as well as meals/drinks in a social aspect.
- All members of the team are supported to progress within the team, should they wish. This includes training in specialist areas, such as BIA, Practice educator or progression to become an advance practitioner or Approved Mental Health Professional.
- Some feedback from the team around the best part of their job are that they get to work with people and watch their improvement, both physically and mentally. As well as being able to support people to realise their own potential and set goals for themselves.
- Working within eh Mental Health inpatient team is a fast-paced environment, but you are guaranteed fun and laughter along the way due to the positive and fun nature of the team.
