We're looking for a Visitor Experience Officer to join us at Dunstable Downs. Your role is all about people - connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.
If you love working with all kinds of people, and you're excited by the Trust's cause - to protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive - then this could be the job for you.
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, regular weekend working will be required. You'll need to be flexible as you'll be working different days each week.
What it's like to work here
You'll be one of two part time Visitor Experience Officers that work together to lead a small and dynamic team of Welcome and Service Assistants. You and your team will work closely with a group of dedicated volunteers to ensure we always have a friendly face to greet our visitors and help them to enjoy their visit. You'll work closely with our Senior Visitor Experience Officer to develop experiences that will move, teach and inspire visitors.
What you'll be doing
Your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you'll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know Dunstable Downs. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here.
You'll role model excellent customer service ensuring that visitors expectations are met. As a team leader you will coach, train and support your team so that they are confident in achieving in their goals. You'll focus on growing support through fundraising and membership, engaging visitors with the work that we do, and inspire them to support.
Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place, you'll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do. You'll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, and ensure all our communications with our visitors, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property are clear and consistent.
You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You're likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages. You'll act as Duty Manager, ensuring a smooth daily operation of the site and will be responsible for responding to incidents or visitor reports. You'll also make sure our visitor operations remain compliant, well presented and well-staffed each day.
