About the Role
In this pivotal role, you ll deliver high-quality podiatry care in both clinical and community settings. You ll provide professional leadership, supporting and mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver High-Quality Care: Provide expert podiatry services, including comprehensive assessments and treatments, for a diverse range of patients, from those with high-risk foot conditions to general podiatry cases.
- Lead and Inspire: Offer day-to-day leadership, supporting and supervising Podiatry Assistants, junior clinicians, and students, while fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
- Collaborate Across Services: Work with a multidisciplinary team, including other healthcare professionals and agencies, to ensure a seamless patient experience and integrated care.
- Flexible and Adaptable Working: Be prepared to manage a varied workload, transitioning between sessional clinics and home visits, often carrying clinical equipment, and adapting to different work environments.
- Service Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of our podiatry service, bringing innovative ideas to improve patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of our care delivery.
Who We re Looking For
Qualifications:
- BSc Degree in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent, with current Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration and a Certificate in Local Anaesthesia.
- Postgraduate clinical experience working within multidisciplinary and interagency teams.
- Proven experience managing a wide range of patient conditions and pathologies, including care for at-risk and high-risk feet.
- Experience working as part of a specialist podiatry team, with clinical rotation experience also considered.
Experience:
- Experience in multidisciplinary and interagency working, treating a variety of conditions including high-risk foot cases.
- Experience in mentoring and service development is desirable.
- Experience working in an NHS setting.
- Experience in clinical supervision and mentoring of junior staff or students.
- Involvement in service development and improvement initiatives.
Skills:
- Strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, proficiency in IT, and the ability to manage a demanding workload with empathy and compassion.
- Knowledge of foot orthotic design and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with the Code of Professional Conduct and awareness of equal opportunity principles in healthcare practice.
- Understanding of Clinical Governance, including how it applies to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care.
- Expertise in managing high-risk tissue breakdown, with knowledge of various treatment options and techniques.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with patients, carers, and healthcare teams, ensuring compliance and effective care plans.

- Resilience and the ability to manage a demanding, varied workload, including traveling between sessional clinics and home visits, often carrying clinical equipment.
- Physical capability to perform clinical treatments in confined positions, requiring fine and repetitive movements.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain focus, applying analytical and diagnostic skills throughout the day.
- Tactful communication skills to address and alleviate patient anxieties effectively.
- Flexibility to adapt to various clinical environments, including dealing with distressing situations like wound care and exposure to body fluids or unpleasant odors.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
