Our client, a medium consulting company with offices across the UK are looking for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their growing team in London, England!
What you will need:
- Degree level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in a design consultancy
- 2 years' experience of executing, leading and managing the design of projects within rail/energy/infrastructure sectors with a focus on HV cabling
- 2 years' experience of managing a team of engineers and technicians and evidence of developing their skills and knowledge
- Knowledge and expertise of design analysis software
- Strong analytical and design skills with the ability to interpret design requirements and analyse complex structures
- A high level of computer literacy with experience of relevant up-to-date engineering design software.
- Ability to represent the company on site visits/surveys (sometimes in unsociable hours) in a professional manner.
- A Masters level degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE or IStructE) or near chartered
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver innovative, sustainable, efficient, safe, practical and intelligent cabling engineering solutions on all projects and other activities appropriate to the stage and type of project.
- Manage junior engineers and technicians to produce complete, co-ordinated and high-quality project information (calculations, drawings, specifications and other documents) on time and on budget to meet agreed deadlines avoiding on site delays.
- Undertake multi-disciplinary design and co-ordination activities with all relevant members of the design team.
- Produce project information as needed.
- Ensure the stability of designs in the permanent/final condition as well as during construction.
- Ensure projects and work reviews are conducted regularly to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Ensure all designs are thoroughly checked independently by other in-house engineers and any errors corrected prior to final documents being issued.
- Record errors or issues with the Engineering Manager so they can be avoided again in the future.
- Ensure Health & Safety is considered at all stages of the design process so that designs produced minimise risk during construction.
- Maintain a CDM Designers Risk Register on all projects detailing the process by which all the risks were identified and then eliminated or minimised.
