Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Manager within the Supply Chain, this is an important role within the Sizewell C Commercial Supply Chain. You’ll typically be responsible for contracts between £0-£100m in value subject to level of risk or complexity.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

  • You’ll be the primary point of commercial contact on the contract/s assigned to you and will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other stakeholders at all levels and across all the teams within SZC to ensure that the requirements of the individual contracts and their impact upon the overall SZC Project are successfully delivered.
  • You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of Supply Chain Assistants under your management.
  • You’ll provide support to the procurement process during the Procurement phase (pre-award) and provide commercial management of contracts during the execution phase (post-award).
  • You’ll be responsible for the delivery of the contract in accordance with SZC governance requirements to meet SZC Project and business objectives.

The Skills

  • You’ll have effective commercial/contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate a considerable track record of administering successful contracts.
  • You’ll have highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
  • You’ll have a good understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
  • A track record with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the construction and infrastructure environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function. 
  • It would be great if you have a previous experience within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment.

Employment basis: The role is expected to be a full- time position however we are open to discussing a more flexible or part- time approach where possible.

Salary: £52,000 - £70,000 dependent on experience, plus bonus and other benefits.
