Job Requirements/Description

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Project Manager to join the University’s Strategic Projects Team. This role will play a crucial part in supporting the delivery of multiple projects under a wider transformation programme.

As part of a small, dynamic team responsible for driving strategic change across the organisation, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of change initiatives, ranging in both size and complexity. From fast-paced, rapid improvement projects that span a few weeks to large-scale strategic programmes running over multiple years, you will lead projects across their full lifecycle. In this role, you will collaborate with senior leaders from various departments across our broad and complex organisation, helping to translate ideas into action. You will provide expert guidance to shape solutions, ensuring project objectives are met and long-term benefits are realised.

While experience within the higher education sector is advantageous, it is not essential. More important is your ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, quickly understanding unfamiliar areas and offering professional guidance on approach and implementation. Regardless of the project, a strong foundation in formal project and change management methodologies is key. Therefore, relevant professional qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, LEAN) will be highly valued.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a significant transformation programme. We are seeking someone with a proven track record of success in a similar role, who thrives in complex and continuously evolving environments. The ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels is essential, as is your passion for delivering impactful change.

If you enjoy taking on new challenges, working in a dynamic organisation, and making a tangible difference, we would love to hear from you.

Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 2 years due to business demand.

We regret that there is no opportunity to work from home in this position.

We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits/support mechanisms, including ongoing development opportunities, flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.

A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated.
