Job Requirements/Description

Grade and Salary: Grade 5, £26,038 - £30,505 per annum

FTE and working pattern: 1 FTE, 35hrs per week, Monday - Friday

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday)

Purpose of Role

This key role is responsible for supporting the strategic development and delivery of international student recruitment support for Scottish campuses and for specific activities across the global University, notably for our campuses in Dubai and Malaysia.  

You will successfully deliver International Recruitment support for Scottish campuses and selected global services across the broader University.  The role will allow you to develop your career in a dynamic and truly global higher education environment. 

You will be expected to support the delivery of key international recruitment support activities and act as an ambassador for Heriot-Watt University. 

The post-holder will also work closely with teams in the following areas to optimise delivery and results: 

Our ideal candidate will be/have:

  • Experience and/or empathy of the challenges and opportunities facing international students as they apply and prepare to study abroad, ideally gained as a graduate from a UK University.  
  • Experience of dealing in a service and target-driven work environment. 
  • A natural communicator with the ability to engage positively with a wide range of stakeholders, notably international students and their advisers.  
  • Enjoy working to support international students to ensure that the student experience they receive at the University is the best one possible.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • You will support the work undertaken by the International Recruitment and Visa Compliance teams. This particularly applies to coordinating interviews undertaken by colleagues globally as part of credibility checks supporting the admissions process. 
  • You will support processes to do with international recruitment operational activities particularly in relation to applicant financial matters.
  • You will support activities related to ensuring the University complies with the Agency Quality Framework.
  • You will assist the service delivery of international student support during the student recruitment process, ensuring that all applicants receive consistent and comprehensive information about the University and the services available to them.
  • You will assist in the delivery of conversion events across all key international markets, thus ensuring consistency of the international student experience. This will include, but not be limited to, offer holder events, agent conferences (both online and on campus), pre-departure briefings and arranging for support on arrival to University campuses. 
  • You will provide administrative support where required to the International Recruitment Operations team and other duties as and when required. This will include supporting the University’s extensive agency network and liaising with key University partners. 

Essential & Desirable Criteria

Essential

  • Educated to first degree level or equivalent
  • Demonstrable commitment to excellence in customer experience
  • Cultural awareness and ability to operate in a global environment
  • Experience utilising a wide range of Microsoft applications to improve existing practice.
  • Good track record of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external customers, peers, stakeholders and others

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification 
  • Experience of working in the International Student Recruitment sector

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ability and willingness to learn new digital skills and capabilities appropriate to your role and how it evolves
  • Understand and adhere to information security practices particularly as it relates to personal or sensitive information
  • Maintain awareness of my own digital wellbeing by being mindful of the length of time spent at a screen and the impact on mental and physical health in using digital technologies.
