Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect with a focus on our Not-for-profit customers to join our thriving technical community and growing business in the UK as part of the UK Public Sector team. You will join a friendly and supportive Public Sector team, working together to bring the latest in cloud computing technologies to our customers, including: government agencies, state-owned companies, educational institutions, healthcare and non-profit organisations. Our Public Sector teams help customers build a deeper understanding of cloud technology and application architectures, so they can benefit from everything cloud technology has to offer.

Key job responsibilities

As AWS Solutions Architect, you will have ownership of the technical relationship with customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, operational efficiency and best-practice architectures.

Internally, you will be an advocate acting on behalf of the customer to help drive continual improvements to AWS services, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS features and services. You will also help shape the future of the Solutions Architecture organisation by helping to hire, coach and mentor others, and find opportunities to improve the way we work.

In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to define and invent cloud-native reference architectures with the worldwide AWS Solutions Architect community.

You will own or participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) and evangelise and educate about AWS technology (e.g. through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences).

With experience in the following key areas:

  • Technical presentation experience – White board, small and large group presentations
  • Technical – Web Services development/deployment experience, cloud computing
  • Operational – Web site/services operations, management, and security

A day in the life

Every day as a Solutions Architect is different. One day you could be building a Proof-of-Concept to show a customer the art of the possible, the next you could be writing content that helps our customers accelerate, the next coaching others on a technology you have expertise in.
