Training bursary: £23,806 (equivalent to net amount earning £13.55 per hour)

Duration: 12 months

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm (flexible start/end times available on mutual agreement)

The Place , London's creative powerhouse for dance development, has been leading the way in dance training, creation and performance for over 50 years. As a Communications Trainee, you will work with the Communications/Marketing team to develop the skills needed to forge a career in arts marketing. You will help maintain and monitor The Place's social media presence by scheduling posts on social media accounts across all major platforms they use.

You will also learn how to produce performance programme notes (for all performances in the theatre), assist in the production and placement of advertising, as well as research, planning, development, and implementation of marketing, PR, and communications activities.

How you will learn

  • Maintaining and monitoring The Place's social media presence
  • Producing performance programme notes
  • Assisting with on-sale processes, building web pages for events
  • Updating and amending The Place website as and when required
  • Supporting the Press and PR Manager in filing and archiving press cuttings
  • Assisting the Senior Marketing Manager in the production and placement of advertising
  • Researching, identifying and collating relevant and appropriate information for internal communication including weekly and monthly staff newsletters
  • Assisting in the research, planning, development and implementation of marketing, PR, and communications activity
  • Contributing to setting and monitoring termly Key Performance Indicators with the rest of the Communications Team
  • Updating corporate stationery and building signage, as required

What we're looking for

  • A basic understanding of PR and/or marketing
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience using a range of social media platforms
  • Enthusiasm for contemporary dance
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Commitment to developing a career in arts/higher education marketing and communications
  • Organised with good time management skills
