Senior Private Sector Housing Officer37 Hours per week, Permanent£42,403 - £46,464 per annumIt's an exciting time to join the Housing team at Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils! In this newly created post, you will lead our Private Sector Housing team in delivering an effective and customer focused service with the aim of achieving safe, warm and decent private sector housing stock across the two districts.The role is varied and no day will be the same - you will provide expertise in the Private Sector Housing function, including interpreting and advising on legislation, leading on relevant service projects and effective partnership working. You will be responsible for developing the council's long term strategic vision and approach for private sector housing - to drive up standards and energy efficiency of homes, ensuring a proactive approach to identifying and licencing houses in multiple occupation and caravan/camping sites and bringing empty homes back into use. You will also have a key role in the performance and financial management of the Councils home improvement agency contract and the delivery of disabled facilities grants. To be successful, we are looking for a dynamic and organised individual with experience and knowledge across all aspects of the Private Sector Housing function, including formal and informal housing enforcement, houses in multiple occupation, disabled facilities grants, caravan/camping licences, empty homes and improving energy efficiency of homes. Applicants must hold a degree or master's degree within Environmental Health. The role also involves leading, empowering, coaching and motivating the team along with providing day to day supervision, guidance and support. Having effective leadership skills with a friendly and professional approach is therefore essential.
