UE07: £40,247.00 - £47,847.00 Per Annum.

CAHSS / MHSES / Childlight Global Safety Institute.

Full Time: 35 Hours Per Week.

Fixed Term Contract: Until 30 April 2028.

The Opportunity:

Childlight, a groundbreaking global child safety institute, has been established and embedded within the University of Edinburgh to take a data driven, evidence-based approach to better understand the prevalence and nature of child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) globally. This data and analysis will be used by policy makers and practitioners across the world to make better informed decisions to safeguard children.

Childlight is looking to appoint a Web Development and Application Specialist responsible for consulting on, designing and delivering a number of key Childlight operational and public-facing web applications. The role requires working with the Childlight research teams globally to construct key Childlight projects including our Into The Light global CSEA prevalence index, and developing and maintaining the Childlight website and intranet.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed-term until 30 April 2028. However, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. It will be based at the University of Edinburgh, though we are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote (within the UK) and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Demonstrable experience of web development skills and frameworks (Desirable).
  • Experience of delivering data visualisations in web applications (ChartJS, D3.js, LeafletJS) with demonstrable examples (Desirable).
  • Strong background in SQL and JSON for database and data-driven scripting
  • Significant experience of working with multi-sector programmes and global institutions with proven ability to establish effective stakeholder relationships and to manage multiple and diverse stakeholder/sector arrangements to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Significant experience managing and working in multi-user (technical and non-technical) environments, and willing to take responsibility for the conception and delivery of ideas, improvements and value to the key Childlight outputs.
  • A passion for making the world a better place and preventing child sexual abuse and exploitation, improving services and safeguarding children.
