Job Title: Contract Behaviour Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: SEMH School in the London Borough of Greenwich

Contract Type: Ongoing long-term Monday to Friday Contract

Daily Rate: £85 - £115 a day

Thriving Inner City SEMH School located in the London Borough of Greenwich is recruiting a 1:1 Monday to Friday Behaviour Teaching Assistant or SEN TA to start immediately!

The successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant or SEN TA must be available to work on a contractual basis 5 days a week between 8:30am 4pm. You will be supporting children and young people on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, providing support to students with various needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).

Class sizes are typically between 5 - 6 students in a class and each student usually has a 1:1 Behaviour TA or SEN TA.

  • You have supported children in some capacity, ie Behaviour Teaching Assistant OR SEN TA / Youth Worker / Child Residential Worker/ SEN Support Worker etc
  • You live in easy commutable distance to the London Borough of Greenwich.
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with specific behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Assist in small group settings to facilitate learning and manage behaviour.
  • Support classroom teachers in managing student behaviour and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting to teachers and other relevant staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff to ensure the well-being and academic progress of students.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining an engaging classroom environment.
  • Support students with ASD, SEMH, PDA, and ODD in managing their emotions and behaviours.
  • Provide support during school activities, outings, and events.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
  • Experience in supporting students with ASD, PDA, and ODD.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in 1:1 and small group settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support (desirable).
