Automation / Material Handling Specialist (Multi-skilled)
Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00
Our client, a leadingB projects specialist in Market Harborough, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with expertise in material handling systems, along with strong electrical background and an understanding of mechanical fundamentals.
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing complex material handling equipment, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime. Your electrical expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting and improving automated systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on material handling equipment
- Develop and implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in conveyor systems, automated guided vehicles, and robotic picking systems
- Implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years' experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in material handling environments
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLC programming, and motor controls
- Experience with conveyor systems, robotics, and automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and on-call shifts
