About the role

The Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST) has established itself as a leading global hub for understanding and driving social transformation to meet the urgent need for rapid and far-reaching emission reductions.

As we enter the second phase of our research, with funding from the ESRC, we are seeking a talented researcher to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in developing compelling, actionable visions of a sustainable future and testing innovative models of social change, working with researchers across CAST’s consortium. As we extend our work with different sectors and scales, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a new stream of work on supporter engagement at football clubs.

As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected duration of 36 months.

About you

You will have:

  • A PhD in a social science discipline, with expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods. This includes survey design and analysis skills.
  • A deep understanding of the social dynamics involved in transforming lifestyles, organisations, and social systems for a sustainable, low-carbon future.
  • Experience of working with non-academic stakeholders such as community and business groups.
  • As a member of the Bath Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change, you will also contribute the development of the wider Social Transformations theme within the institute and work and wider inter-disciplinary work.
