Magic Sound's vision for the next 3 years is to address the under-representation of the England's 4th largest ethnic group - East Asians (including Chinese and Other Asians - 2.2% of the population). We are looking for someone to help us expand our reach to include more diverse London and outer London audiences and establish a network of organisations that reach and engage with our target audience of 18-30 yr old East Asians across England.

As a multi-lingual organisation we are looking for a candidate who is fluent in both Mandarin and English, responsible for:

  • Working with the Managing Director and Business Development Manager on the MIK Festival (Korean Music and Culture) in Northwick Park for June 2025 to:
    • Produce and implement an enhanced host Community Engagement Plan, including at least two resident meetings prior to the event and distribution letters notifying residents of these meetings and key event details.
    • Act as the primary point of contact with the host community in the six months leading up to the event, during, and after for any evaluation and debrief meetings.
    • Work with Brent Council and other stakeholders to establish excellent lines of communication with local businesses, residents and other stakeholders who could be negatively affected, or positively benefit from the event.
    • Provide opportunities for collaboration with local groups and other organisations where possible. Such as with local businesses, providing performance or volunteering opportunities, supporting local artists.
    • Develop a ticketing strategy for greater access to cultural engagement for local residents. i.e. implementing a ballot scheme for local residents which gives away 150 free tickets per concert day.
  • Identifying and establishing strong relationships with East Asian community groups across England and nurture existing partnerships.
  • Leading community consultations with our community network to increase understanding of the cultural needs of the East Asian community and creating and publicly sharing a 'State of Korean and Chinese Culture in the UK' Report.
  • Recruiting and managing local volunteers for performances.
  • Working with local schools, colleges and universities to promote Magic Sound work experience opportunities.
  • Developing procedures for the distribution of free tickets to Magic Sound concerts for those most underserved.
  • Supporting the Managing Director to establish and manage a Spring Festival community and international steering group.
  • Supporting the Magic Sound Board to collect and analyse community, audience and environmental data as required by Arts Council England.
  • Driving organisational change to meet UK best practices in the collection and use of data (including sharing with China and SE Asia), environmentally sustainable and EDI practices.
