We have a current requirement for a civil design engineer to join our design function based in Glasgow on a permanent basis. The role of Civil Designer is to manage the production of discipline specific engineering design deliverables, for a range of multi-disciplinary engineering projects. This includes the design and assessment of various Civil structures, typically encountered on Water and Wastewater sites. This might include the design or assessment of concrete plinths, base-slabs, retaining walls, tanks, channels and flumes etc. designed to resist specified static and dynamic forces generated by the equipment or medium placed upon, in, or adjacent to them. You will also be required to consider the construction aspects of the afore mentioned structures, including ground conditions, buildability and demolition.
Main duties and responsibilities
To be considered for this position you will have at least 3-5 years previous design experience ideally within a civil engineering or construction environment, the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of structural theory, with proven problem-solving ability as well as good all-round technical design expertise using British and/or Eurocodes. An Accredited degree in Civil Engineering or similar would be beneficial for this role.
